What’s your ice age book? (thought experiment)

Imagine… The world is on the brink of a cataclysmic freeze. A incoming ice age promises to cloak every corner of the globe.

You and a brave band of survivors have weathered the initial apocalyptic storm — the few survivors of humanity as far as anyone knows, since the internet and cell phone communications have been silenced by the freeze.

Isolated from civilization, your small group clings to existence in the heart of a frozen city. Your plan begins to take shape: abandon the the urban wasteland and seek refuge in a nearby fallout shelter shielded from the storms.

Preparing for the journey ahead, you remember the city’s largest library just down the road, full of the stories and wisdom of millennia, the only remaining documents of human history.

You dash for the library in a desperate search. There is room in your pack for only one book. You will preserve a single beacon of knowledge, a lone artifact through the great apocalypse of your age.

The clock is ticking. Which book do you choose?
